Wandering Through the Corn Maze

Who doesn't love getting lost in a huge maze made out of a corn field?  It must be getting close to Halloween because corn mazes start popping up all over.   Today we wandered through this maze whose design represents the 100th year anniversary of the scout organization.

We had really nice weather too....a nice, balmy 53 degrees, with wind and a some rainclouds hovering over us.  We came prepared with jackets and coats.

While we were waiting for the rest of our group to get there, my kids enjoyed some of the side attractions.

Such as the slide.

and the tractor rides (the kids took several turns.)

Rigdon's pretty excited.

Alrighty, the rest of the group is here!  Julie and her sister, Kriss, and their kids, along with our little family.

There were 4 different mazes to choose from....we picked the Blue Maze, it was the second longest maze of just over 2 miles of trails.

Julie and Kriss.

Lots of great helpers from the bigger kids.

We discovered it was a bit crazy trying to keep the older kids reigned in from getting too far ahead of us.  They were cruising!

Me and Rigdon....he moved a little slower than the rest of the group.

Just wandering now, trying to find check points to clip our prize cards and eventually the way out.

Hey, we found a check point!

Hmmm....which way do we go?

Funny, me and Julie's girls are both named Aubrey and Aubree.

We put much trust in our very experienced navigators:

After awhile, we discovered we were starting to go in circles, so Julie came up with the great idea of just keep turning right.  It worked!!  We made it out after about an hour...not too shabby.  (The last maze I went to took me over two hours and that was WITH cheating by sneeking off the path through the corn to get to another trail.)

The big boys played tag in the kiddie straw maze, or I should say, on top of the maze.

Did you have fun, Rigdon?

 I sure did, mom!

Ahh, it couldn't have ended any better than this:

  1. It looks as though a fun day was had by all. The aerial photo of the maze is stunning.
