Just Keep Peddling

Earlier this summer I went mountain biking with some of my siblings and in-laws for the first time.  We'd never done anything like this together, and for many of them it was their first time trying it out.  Only Cory and I had been mountain biking before (I am still very new at it.)
(picture stolen from Lisa's blog...thanks Lisa! :) Hope you don't mind?)

Jodi - Before the Ride.  Aaaaaah, all the unkown adventures that await her.  ;p

The ride was great.  Going uphill is always a killer for me.  My brother, Cory, and Jodi were by far the ones in better shape and easily led the way by a good distance.  The rest of us had to take a few breaks every now and then.

After about an hour of serious peddling, we made it!  Me with my younger brother and sister.  :)

Jodi and her hubby, Ben.

Going downhill was like a Godsend for most of us.  After a long uphill struggle your feeling physically spent, not sure you can keep going on.  So going down is seriously like a breath of fresh air, the reward, if you will...as long as you can keep control of your bike, that is.

Downhill was a bit unnerving for Jodi and Lisa.  Jodi didn't like it at all.  In fact, Jodi ended up crashing in a creek and Lisa crashed right on top of her.  It wasn't funny at the moment but now I dearly wished someone took a picture of it!  So there they were, two women stuck in a creek, tangled up in the bikes and rocks, not able to get out.  Ben came to the rescue and pulled them out.

Dirty, wet, scraped, very sore (she flew over her bike in the crash), and still somewhat smiling:    Luv ya Jo!

The Evidence:   :)

Poor Lisa, she got scraped up pretty good too.  Over the next few days she developed some seriously huge, colorful bruises.

Perhaps we should have gone on an easier trail in the first place, but at least this day would be one of those memorable moments we won't forget too easily.  :)

Couldn't have been too bad, right girls?  You're still smiling!
Gotta do it again soon, guys!
